There are also, 3 simple, quality wall charts which cover pregnancy/post natal exercises with baby, as well as more advanced toning/stretching exercises. So, if you are Pregnant why should you use a Birthing/Exercise Ball? Unless there are medical reasons to avoid it, pregnant women should try to exercise moderately for at least 30 minutes a day, 3-4 times a week. Birthing Balls, also known as an Exercise Ball, Gym Ball, Swiss Ball or Fitness Balls, are brilliant for relieving discomfort during pregnancy, providing a firm, yet soft and comfortable place to sit. They also ensure good posture, with decreased strain on your muscles. Regular exercise can also help you feel better both physically and emotionally, and the calories burned helps prevent excessive weight gain. People who exercise regularly develop stronger muscles, bones and joints. In pregnancy, exercise has additional benefits. There is evidence to show exercise can help prevent gestational diabetes, a form of diabetes that can develops during pregnancy. Exercise is a stress reliever and can help build the stamina needed for labour and delivery. It is known that exercise can help new mums keep the 'baby blues' at bay, cope with postnatal depression, regain their energy and lose any weight gained throughout the pregnancy. In studies completed on birthing positions during the second or pushing stage of labour, it has been found that either sitting up or lying on the side to push instead of lying on the back resulted in:- * Shorter second stage of labour * A reduction in the number of assisted deliveries (vacuum and forceps) * A reduction in the number of episiotomies * A smaller increase in second-degree perineal tears * Reduced reporting of severe pain during the pushing stage of labour * Fewer abnormal foetal heart rate patterns What size Exercise/Birthing Ball do I require? The size or birthing ball relates to your height. When you sit on the ball (when correctly inflated to the indicated size) your knees need to be slightly lower than your hips. The recommended ball/height size is as follows: Height 5'5'/165cms and under - 55cm Exercise/ Birthing Ball Height 5'6'/167.5cms - 6'1'/185.5cms - 65cm Exercise/ Birthing Ball The Miracle Box comes neatly boxed and makes a great gift.

First of all, delivery speed was impressive - arrived one day after ordering! Ball is very high quality material and - best of all - it's bright pink! (I ordered the 65cm size). Includes posters with easy to follow exercises as well as an instructional DVD. Good value for money. (Posted on 7/25/2011)

I didn't realise how comfortable sitting on a birth ball is. I have been getting alot of back pain lately, but since I have started using the ball, I feel so much better. Great I have recommended this package to my friends (Posted on 3/12/2011)
